'Red Herring' Opens At Clackamas Community College On March 3

OREGON CITY – Hang on to your fedora because Clackamas Community College's Theatre Department will present the heartwarming comedy "Red Herring," by Michael Hollinger as the winter main stage production.

Boston gumshoe Maggie Pelletier has to nose around the "red herrings" of who dumped a body in the harbor in this tribute to the classic noir detective story. It is 1952, Eisenhower is on the campaign trail, "I Love Lucy" is on TV and Joe McCarthy's daughter just got engaged to a Soviet spy! A mash-up of three love stories, a murder mystery and nuclear espionage, "Red Herring" hooks its audience with brilliant plotting and a small ensemble of actors playing 18 roles in this over-the-top laugh machine.

Directed by Artistic Director James Eikrem, "Red Herring" features a dynamic ensemble of CCC students, with scenic and lighting design by Chris Whitten and costumes by Abby Vaughan.

"Red Herring" runs March 3-6, Thursday through Saturday at 7:30 p.m., with a Sunday matinee at 2:30 p.m. in the Niemeyer Osterman Theatre, 19600 Molalla Ave., Oregon City. There will also be a 10 a.m. matinee Friday, March 4.

Tickets are $15 for adults, $13 for seniors (62+) and $6 for students (free for CCC students).
