Sheriff's Office Calls Off River Search

Jorge Ecavarria-Ortega was in a row boat that capsized in the Willamette River.

The Clackamas County Sheriff's Office has called off the search for a man who reportedly disappeared into the Willamette River. Jorge Luis Echavarria-Ortega had been in a row boat when it capsized.

Deputies with the office's marine and dive rescue units along with marine rescue from Clackamas Fire District 1 responded to the Milwaukie Boat Ramp where they were told that Echavarria-Ortega of Portland had gone under.

After 45 minutes, the search was changed to a recovery operation from a rescue operation.

His body has not yet been found.
