Snowboarder Missing on Mt. Hood Reportedly Found

Teen had been separated from group. Search and rescue teams found him several hours later.

A 19-year-old snowboarder who had been separated from a group and got lost on Mt. Hood has been located safely, according to one one of the groups that participated in the search, Mountain Wave Search and Rescue.

The Clackamas County Sheriff's Office said they had received a call just before 6 p.m. on Saturday from Mt. Hood Ski Patrol saying that the snowboarder had gone out of bounds and couldn't be found.

Ski Patrol had led a group back to the Timberline Ski Area after they had traveled out of bounds. The 19-year-old had been with that group and couldn't be found.

They were concerned because while the teen is an experienced snowboarder, he was not prepared to be on the mountain overnight. Ski patrol was told that he only had some beer and water. He did not have a cell phone, GPS, or mountain locator device.

Mountain Wave reported early Sunday that he had been found, was okay, and was being brought out.
