Treacherous Roads, Flood Watch Spur Oregon City School Closures: Tuesday Jan. 17
Cancellations also affect before and after school activities.

Oregon City School District facilities will be closed on Tuesday, Jan. 17, 2017, according to a district alert issued on Monday.
"District administrators have been following forecasts closely, and have also consulted with local authorities regarding anticipated road conditions," it said. "While conditions on main roadways have improved, many neighborhood streets, parking lots and walkways continue to be extremely dangerous. The National Weather Service has also issued a freezing rain advisory for early Tuesday morning."

- Slippery roads and travel difficulties are predicted for morning through mid-day.
- Expect impacts to schools and businesses.
- Potential for power interruptions.
Consequently, the decision has been made to close schools tomorrow in consideration of the following:
- Our first priority is the safety of our students and staff.
- Snow and ice accumulation from the previous storm remains.
- Conditions are predicted to deteriorate overnight and in the morning.
- We hope that making this decision now will provide families with more time to make necessary arrangements.
"We are really looking forward to welcoming students back in classrooms on Wednesday," school officials said, in a written statement.

- All Schools Closed.
- Eastham Community Center Closed.
- After-the-Bell Closed.
- All other before and after school activities and athletics are canceled.
- District Office will open at 10am.
- School is expected to resume on Wednesday.
