Heart of Oregon Corps plans to open the facility in fall 2026, centralizing training and support for hundreds of 16–24-year-olds from rural Central Oregon. The group is still fundraising to close a $1.25 million construction gap. 
2. 'The list keeps growing': Longest Night vigils honor those who died homeless (redmondspokesman.com) — A Longest Night vigil at Bethlehem Inn’s Redmond shelter on Dec. 21 will honor homeless neighbors who died this year, including one woman who spent years living between Bend and Redmond. Organizers describe how the ceremony’s candles, stories, and prayers help families and service providers remember loved ones while drawing attention to those still struggling on local streets.
3. Mild winter keeps Bend, Redmond construction projects on schedule (centraloregondaily.com) — Mild winter weather is helping keep Redmond Airport’s terminal expansion on schedule, as crews add new gates, jet bridges, and a temporary shipping-container walkway for passengers. Travelers shouldn’t see major disruptions, and the project is expected to wrap up before the end of 2027. Bend road projects are also benefiting from the favorable conditions.

Gold Beach Lumber to put new store location into Madras (madraspioneer.com) — Residents who now drive to Bend or Redmond for building supplies may soon have another option, as Gold Beach Lumber plans a full-service store in Madras within two years. Backed by a $500,000 local grant package, the project aims to keep more shopping and jobs in Jefferson County while boosting access to agricultural and ranching materials across Central Oregon.
