• Police find 13 guns, 8 lbs. of meth & other drugs during search of Salem home (katu.com) — Salem Police say a search of a home on 18th Street NE uncovered 13 firearms and large quantities of meth, fentanyl, and cocaine tied to an ongoing investigation. Detectives report this seizure is part of the department’s Community Violence Reduction Initiative, which has taken nearly 300 guns off Salem streets this year.

• Oscar-winning, Salem-filmed 'One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest' turns 50 (statesmanjournal.com) — A beloved piece of Salem history is back in the spotlight as “One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest,” filmed largely at Oregon State Hospital and on local streets, marks its 50th anniversary. The story revisits how Salem locations, Oregon author Ken Kesey, and even the hospital’s administrator helped shape a movie that went on to win five Oscars and global acclaim.
   

• Fire at Oregon prison factory quickly contained, no injuries (kval.com) — A small fire at the Oregon Corrections Enterprises furniture factory inside Oregon State Penitentiary in Salem was quickly contained Monday morning, with no injuries reported. Salem Fire Department crews extinguished flames near a sawdust collector, tested air quality, and cleared the building, allowing all OCE shops to resume normal operations by early Tuesday.
