• ICE queries Waldport resort, prompting city to pass resolution in opposition (klcc.org) — Waldport’s city council unanimously passed a resolution directing the city manager to use all legal means to block any ICE detention facility from coming to the community. The move followed confirmation that ICE had inquired about renting rooms at the Alsi Resort and drew an overflow crowd of residents who spoke strongly against the idea.
   

• Oregon State Police seek public help in identifying elk poaching suspect near Waldport (kval.com) — Oregon State Police are asking Waldport-area residents for tips after a cow elk was found shot and left to waste in the Siuslaw National Forest near USFS Road 3462, not far from town. Investigators believe both a cow and bull elk were killed there between November 22 and 24 and are seeking any information tied to case SP25-482212.
