Wooden Shoe Tulip Festival Will Be Open Until May 8 Thanks To Weather
The tulip festival announced on Friday it's extending the season by one week because cold weather helps flowers keep their color.
WOODBURN, OR — T.S. Eliot may have been right about April being the cruelest month what with the snow, torrential rain, frost and just generally lousy weather that we've had. But there is a rainbow of reward.
Specifically, there is a rainbow of tulips.
The Wooden Shoe Tulip Festival in Woodburn announced Friday that it's extending the season by one week. The last day of the festival will be Mother's Day, May 8.

The festival said that tulips like cold weather, and it helps them keep their color longer.
It's only the second time in almost 40 years that spring was cold enough for the festival to extend its season.

Organizers said that people must get tickets online in advance. No tickets will be sold at the gate. Because of health concerns, organizers are trying to limit the crowds.
