• MacLaren youth will have access to library for first time in 5 years (statesmanjournal.com) — Youth at MacLaren Youth Correctional Facility in Woodburn will soon regain access to a full library after more than five years with only a few books and Bibles available. Staff are rebuilding the collection with community donations, including Spanish-language, fantasy, urban fiction, self-help, and classics, while a mobile book cart already brings reading options directly to living units. 
• Woodburn man arrested for DUII after allegedly striking, killing Keizer motorcyclist (woodburnindependent.com) — A Woodburn resident was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence after a weekend crash near Keizer that left a 22-year-old motorcyclist dead. State Police say impairment is considered a primary factor, and the investigation into the Highway 99E collision is still ongoing.
