An Abington Detective Spent Three Years On A Scam Case Against An Elderly Resident
Abington Detective Shawn Nisbet spent nearly three years identifying and tracking down a suspect who scammed a local elderly woman.

ABINGTON, PA — Detective Shawn Nisbet was not going to let someone get away with scamming an elderly resident in his township.
The Abington investigator spent nearly three years tracking down a man who victimized a local woman in what was described as a driveway repair scam.
It was June 21, 2019, when the 81-year-old Abington resident reported that a man had scammed her out of $4,500.

Nisbet was assigned the case and ultimately identified the suspect as a 50-year-old transient criminal out of Fort Lauderdale, Florida.
The detective was successful in securing an arrest warrant for the man, but the extradition process from the Sunshine State proved extremely difficult.

Still, that didn't stop Nisbet.
"Detective Sgt. Nisbet's pursuit of the suspect was relentless, and after nearly three years of communication with the suspect and his attorney, was able to get full restitution for the victim," the Abington Police Department posted on Facebook this week.
On Tuesday, Nisbet made a visit to the victim and presented her with a check for $4,500, which was the amount of money she was scammed out of nearly three years ago.
The Facebook post announcing the news drew much attention and had more than 175 comments at the time of the publication of this story.
