Abington Fest Will Be First For Township
Abington Township officials are holding the inaugural event in early October.

ABINGTON TOWNSHIP, PA — For two days in October, Abington Township will celebrate fall with family events, including a 5K race, Kids' Dash, festival, and Parent-Child Golf Tournament.
The event, dubbed Abington Fest, is the first of its kind for the township.
Township officials are planning the two-day community celebration for Oct. 4–5.

The weekend will feature a 5K race and Kids' Dash, a fall festival with activities like Touch a Truck - Trunk or Treat, and a special Parent-Child Golf Tournament.

5K Race and Kids' Dash
Saturday, Oct. 4
- 8 AM: Kids' Dash at Roslyn Park (Registration required.)
- 8:30 AM: 5K at Roslyn Park (Registration required.)
- 12-3 PM: Fall Festival at Crestmont Park
Sunday, Oct. 5
- 10 AM: Parent-Child Golf Tournament at Alverthorpe Park (Registration required.)
The 5K and Kids' Dash will be held on Saturday, Oct. 4, at Roslyn Park (2726 Fernwood Avenue).
- 8 AM: Kids' Dash
- Open to ages 2 - 10
- Cost: Free
- 8:30 AM: 5K (run or walk the 5K)
- Cost: $30 (ages 18+) and $20 (ages 5 - 17)
The 5K race starts and ends in Roslyn Park, with a course through the Roslyn neighborhood. There are rolling up-hills on the first half, with the second half coming downhill. The race will begin at 8:30 a.m.
Prizes will be awarded to the top three finishers in each gender category and for top Abington residents.
The Kids' Dash will start at 8 AM and will be on the baseball outfields. The Kids' Dash will have staggered start times for age groups. Every child who participates will receive a medal.
Fall Festival Details
The Fall Festival will be held on Saturday, Oct. 4, at Crestmont Park (2595 Rubicam Ave.) from Noon to 3 p.m.
The family-friendly event will feature a variety of free activities for children, including Touch a Truck, Trunk or Treat, bounce houses, and crafts. Costumes are encouraged.
Residents are urged to bring their own bags or containers to collect candy, as there will be limited supply on hand. There will also be music from a local band, and a selection of food trucks. Administration is free.
Parking will be available at Crestmont Park in the lower and middle parking lots on Old Welsh Road, and at the Willow Grove Park Mall. The Abington Police Department will be on site to help with crossing the street. There will be no parking in the upper lot at Crestmont Park (location of the Trunk or Treat/Touch a Truck).
Parent-Child Golf Tournament
The Parent-Child Golf Tournament will be held at 10 a.m. on Sunday, Oct. 5, at Alverthorpe Park for children ages 7–12 and their parent or guardian. The cost is $15 per team.

Trophies will be awarded to the top teams in each age group: Ages 7-8, Ages 9-10, and Ages 11-12.
Here are the rules:
- Each team must be comprised of one child and one adult (18 years or older)
- Tournament will be a shotgun start format
- Players must have their clubs
- All players must walk the course (golf carts are not available)
- Rolling carts are permitted
- Each team will keep track of their score and submit their scorecard after 9 holes
- The 3 lowest combined scores in each age group will win.
- For the safety of others, spectators are not permitted on the golf course.
