Abington Human Relations Commission Volunteers Wanted
The seven-member commission that tackles housing and employment discrimination is seeking to fill an open seat.
ABINGTON, PA - One seat remains open on the Abington Township Human Relations Commission, township officials said.
The seven-member commission appointed by the board of commissioners meets virtually on the first Wednesday of the month. Each member is non-partisan and serves three-year terms.
Interested applicants must send a letter of interest and a resume to HRC@abingtonpa.gov.

“If you are passionate about giving back to the community and making a difference, please consider joining the Abington Township Human Relations Commission (HRC),” officials said in an Aug. 15 statement.
“Abington Township and the ATHRC recognize the inherent dignity and worth of all people; therefore, the ATHRC strives to ensure, through education, mediation, and community outreach, that all members of the community enjoy equality and equal protection under the law.”

Interviews will be conducted in September.
The Abington Township Human Relations Commission was formed to promote the provisions of Abington Ordinance 2029, which prohibits discrimination in housing, employment, and public accommodations.
