Abington Officer Retires After 25 Years On Force

ABINGTON, PA - A 25-year member of the Abington Township Police Department and nearly four-decade law enforcement veteran has retired this month.

John Landes, an officer in Abington since 1998, retired earlier in August, department officials said.

Landes started his career with the Tampa Police Department in 1985, having served for 12 years before he crossed state lines to join the Abington Township Police Department.

Landes served in the department’s bike unit and honor guard, spending “countless hours” traveling around the region and representing the department, his colleagues said in a statement.

“John will be missed,” the department said. “May God bless John, his wife Wendy and children Ryan and Elijah both serving/protecting our country as members of the Air Force.”
