Abington Police Department 'National Night Out' In Photos

The Abington Township Police Department, like others across the region, celebrated National Night Out on Monday evening.

ABINGTON, PA — The Abington Township Police Department celebrated the annual 'National Night Out' event on Tuesday evening, joining other area law enforcement agencies who also participated in a program that is designed to foster greater police-community relations.

"Thank you Citizens and Police Together for throwing a great event for our community!" the Abington Township Police Department posted to its Facebook page.

The department went on to post around 125 photos from the evening's festivities.

National Night Out, according to its website, is an annual community-building campaign that works to promote police-community partnerships and neighborhood camaraderie to strive to make communities safer places in which to live.

The event dates back to the 1970s, and actually began right here in Pennsylvania by the National Association of Town Watch, according to organizers.
