Bridge Replacement Project To Last 2 Years In Cheltenham

Montgomery County officials said a project to replace the bridge over the Tacony Creek will begin in late January.

CHELTENHAM TOWNSHIP, PA — A construction project to replace the bridge over the Tacony Creek will begin late next month, Montgomery County officials said.

The project calls for replacing Montgomery County Bridge 275, E. Waverly Road over Tacony Creek, starting in late January.

The bridge is located on East Waverly Road, between South Keswick Avenue and Rices Mill Road, adjacent to the Glenside War Memorial Hall, officials said.

The project is expected to last two years and be completed in April 2028.

Once construction starts in late January/early February 2026, a PennDOT-approved full detour will be implemented for area drivers, officials said.

The detour will use South Keswick Avenue and East Glenside Avenue.

The bridge will be closed to all vehicles, but pedestrian access to the Glenside War Memorial Hall will be maintained throughout the project.
