Cheltenham High Football Season Suspended Over Hazing Allegations
The Cheltenham schools superintendent canceled Friday night's football game and temporarily suspended high school football games.
CHELTENHAM TOWNSHIP, PA — The Cheltenham School District's football program has been temporarily suspended over hazing allegations, school officials said.
In a letter to the school community Friday, Schools Superintendent Brian W. Scriven said that he received anonymous information regarding allegations of hazing in the Cheltenham High School football program.
"This information is deeply concerning and, if substantiated, wholly inconsistent with our values as a district," Scriven said.

He said the district has hired an investigator to lead an investigation into the allegations.
Meanwhile, the high school football game Friday night versus Truman High School at Springfield has been postponed, and that the season is suspended as of now..

"While I recognize that this decision deeply affects our students and families, the allegations deserve and require this immediate and decisive action," the superintendent said. "We recognize that this communication will likely prompt many emotions and questions, and we remain committed to safety and transparency in all communications."
Scriven said. said an update will be provided early next week on the football program's future.
