The Glenside Old Timers were formed right after WWII. When the guys returning home from war decided to form a baseball team, they would play similar teams formed in Philadelphia, Camden and at the War Memorial field in Glenside.

As the gentlemen grew older they decided to start a dinner social once a year as kind of a reunion.

Lee Whittock, a Temple Hall of Famer, organized the first dinner 55 years ago at the Casa Conti. From there it was moved to the Willow Grove Moose, then to the Knights of Columbus. Finally, here at the North Penn VFW for the past Ten Years. The late Joe Taddie organized the dinner in later years, and now Bob Smith is the organizer. The Glenside Old Timers welcome men of every generation from Glenside, Jenkintown and Willow Grove. They also look to the future of the next generation to join the event
