Fire departments in Abington Township will hold the open houses starting next Monday.
ABINGTON TOWNSHIP, PA — Township fire departments have scheduled open houses for Fire Prevention Week.
Fire Prevention Week takes place from Sunday to Saturday. It started in 1922, which makes Fire Prevention Week the longest-running public safety campaign in the nation.
Each year, a fire prevention theme is selected, traditionally focused on smoke alarms, kitchen fires, and escape planning.

Fire officials are encouraging the public to come out to the open houses and to follow three simple fire prevention steps: Buy only listed products, charge devices safely, and recycle batteries responsibly.
