Firefighters Worked To Put Out Two House Fires In Cheltenham Township Late Last Week

Fire crews in eastern Montgomery County worked on a residential blaze last Wednesday and Friday. Nobody was reported to have been injured.

CHELTENHAM, PA — Local fire crews were called out to extinguish a residential blaze late last week in this eastern Montgomery County community, just days after a call for a fire at another local home.

Firefighters with Glenside Fire Company said they were called out to assist Elkins Park Fire Company after a 911 call was placed regarding a house fire in the Wyncote section of Cheltenham last Friday around 5 p.m.

Three water lines were needed to extinguish the fire "quickly and efficiently," the Glenside Fire Company posted to Facebook.

Photos posted to Facebook appear to show the fire having started in an outdoor section of the home, in what looks to be either a carport or covered patio area.

The fire came just days after the Elkins Park Fire Company says it was dispatched to another residential blaze in Cheltenham Township, that one occurring a little before 5 in the morning on March 30.

In that incident, Elkins Park firefighters were joined by fire crews from Cheltenham Fire Company, Rockledge Fire Company and McKinley Fire Company in putting out a fire that started in the garage of a local home.

Firefighters were able to get all of the occupants out of the home safely and they even had to give some oxygen to the family's dog, who had been inside the house at the time the blaze broke out.

No cause was immediately given for either of the fires last week.
