First Responders Thanked For Fighting SPS Technologies Fire

ABINGTON TOWNSHIP, PA —Township officials are thanking all of the fire companies and law enforcement agencies who battled the SPS Technologies fire for 114 consecutive hours.

"Abington Township would like to extend its deepest gratitude to the courageous emergency responders who tirelessly battled the SPS Technologies fire," officials said.

The fire gutted the 600,000-square-foot SPS Technologies building on Highland Avenue in Jenkintown on Feb. 17.

"This unprecedented fire required an extensive and around-the-clock emergency response, a response that demonstrated the extraordinary courage, strength, professionalism, training, capabilities, and commitment to service of our first responders at the local, county, state, and federal levels," officials said. Their relentless efforts and dedication ensured the safety of our surrounding communities and minimized the damage caused by this devastating incident."

Township officials said they recognize the sacrifices made by the responders, including long hours, extreme conditions, and the risks they faced to protect lives.

"We would also like to acknowledge their families and their sacrifice, strength, and support throughout the entire incident," officials said.
