Fundraiser Planned In Wake Of Abington Fire
Proceeds from a comedy show at the Keswick Theater will go toward Abington's volunteer companies that fought the SPS Technologies fire.

ABINGTON TOWNSHIP, PA —The Abington Police Foundation has announced that the funds raised at the Comedy of Joe Conklin and the City Rhythm Orchestra event on April 5 at the Keswick Theatre will be redirected to assist the township's five volunteer fire companies.
The Abington Township Fire Department (ATFD) consists of Abington, McKinley, Weldon, Edge Hill, and Roslyn Companies.
The donation will help replace critical equipment, including Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) that was damaged or destroyed in response to the SPS Technologies building fire that recently occurred in the township.

“We are incredibly proud of our community’s resilience and the support we’ve received from the public during such a challenging time,” Police Chief Patrick Molloy said. “While the Comedy of Joe Conklin and City Rhythm Orchestra event was originally intended to raise funds for the police foundation, we believe redirecting these proceeds to help our fire department with crucial PPE and other equipment is the right course of action to support the safety and well-being of all our volunteer firefighters.”
The SPS Building Fire was a catastrophic event with extensive damage affecting the resources of the all-volunteer Abington Township Fire Department. With the continued dedication and commitment of our emergency responders, the redirection of funds will go a long way to support being properly equipped to handle the demands of future crises.
The Abington Police Foundation extends its deepest gratitude to all event attendees, donors, and volunteers whose support made this decision possible. Please join us in helping our volunteer fire companies remain strong and ready to answer the call.
