Montco LGBTQ Center Quadruples In Size Over First 2 Years

EASTERN MONTGOMERY COUNTY, PA — An eastern Montgomery County LGBTQ center has significantly expanded its operations, burgeoning to quadruple its original size from two years ago, local advocates and officials said.

The Resilience Resource Center, based in Huntingdon Valley, first opened its doors in October 2023. Approaching its anniversary, organizers say it's grown "astronomically" a safe space that offers career counseling, mental health services, support groups, youth programs, and more.

The Center is located on 2337 Philmont Avenue in Huntingdon Valley.

The Center also received a $20,000 grant from the Gender Justice Fund, allowing it to offer expanded mental health and intervention support resources specifically catered to trans and gender-expansive individuals.

“We want to remove the barriers to care,” Resilience Resource Center Communication Director Dana Newman said in a statement. “And make sure new people are aware of us.”

The Center's new funding also means they can offer SEPTA transit cards to make it easier, or possible, for people to get to them. The Center is located a five minute walk from the Bethayres train station.

Another grant which has helped grow the center came from the Tigris Foundation, which supports six guided art workshops for youth, and will culminate in a special art showcase in November.
