Pitbull Shot By Police In Cheltenham Township
Cheltenham Police said the dog was attacking people and approached an officer before being shot on Tuesday night.
CHELTENHAM TOWNSHIP, PA — Cheltenham Police are investigating an incident in which an officer shot a pitbull they say was attacking people and other dogs on Tuesday night.
Cheltenham Police responded to the Wyngate Community in the township's Wyncote section at 6:21 p.m. on Tuesday for multiple 911 calls of a vicious pit bull chasing and attacking people and other dogs.
Police located the dog, which they said then aggressively approached an officer, who fired one shot at the pitbull in self-defense, striking the dog before it ran away.

The dog's owner later called 911 to report an injured dog.
Police confirmed that the dog was the pitbull that was shot. The dog was taken to an emergency veterinary surgical hospital for treatment.

The condition of the pitbull was unknown at this time.
