Portion of Limekiln Pike to Close July 23 to 26 For Bridge Repair
Limekiln Pike will be closed between Willow Grove Ave. and Mount Carmel Ave. from 7 p.m. July 23 until 5 p.m. July 26 due to bridge work.
ABINGTON, PA — Motorists are being reminded of A local road closure and detour due to ongoing infrastructure work in Abington and neighboring Cheltenham Township.
Route 152, which is also Limekiln Pike, is scheduled to close between Willow Grove Avenue and Mount Carmel Avenue later this week due to bridge work.
The Limekiln Pike Bridge will be closed in both directions from Friday July 23 at 7 p.m. until Monday July 26 at 5 a.m. while workers put up bridge beams and remove the existing Aqua Water Bridge, according to information from Abington Township.

Commuters will be detoured over Mount Carmel Avenue and Easton Road while the bridge work takes place.
This will be the final bridge closure relating to the improvement project, which consists of removing and replacing the existing bridge due to a need to address failings in the bridge deck and superstructure, according to the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation.

The bridge had been rated in serious condition due to deterioration and severe cracking that had been observed during an earlier inspection of the bridge, PennDOT stated.
There had been a number of previous closures and detours up to this point due to the bridge work, which is being handled by general contractor Neshaminy Constructors Inc., according to PennDOT, which puts the dollar figure for the project at $3,158,574.
The project, being paid for entirely with federal funds, is expected to be completed this summer.
