Shirley D. Bird, Member of the Reformed Church of Willow Grove, IUP Grad

Shirley D. Bird, of Lower Gwynedd, died Wednesday, Oct. 23 at her residence. She was 82.

Born in Pittsburgh, she was the daughter of the late Kenneth D. Davies and Emily Davies (née - Jones).

She was the widow of Charles D. Bird.

Bird graduated from Indiana Teachers College (IUP) with a bachelor’s degree in elementary education. She was a teacher in the Merion School District.

Bird was a member of The Reformed Church of Willow Grove for more than 30 years. She was a member of Manufacturers’ Golf and Country Club since 1971.

She is survived by children Amy Bird and David Bird; a brother, Larry Davies; and several grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held Monday, Oct. 28 at 11:30 a.m. at The Reformed Church of Willow Grove, 1500 North Hills Ave., Willow Grove.

Religious services will be conducted by the Rev. Christopher Heitkamp.
