Fatal Officer-Involved Shooting Reported In Abington

One man was killed in the incident, which was reported along the 2300 block of Rosemore Avenue.

ABINGTON TOWNSHIP, PA —A fatal officer-involved shooting that occurred in the township on Thursday is under investigation by the Montgomery County District Attorney's Office. One man was killed in the incident.

According to officials, Abington Township Police responded at 11:15 p.m. Thursday to a 911 call for a domestic disturbance in the 2300 block of Rosemore Avenue in the township's Glenside section.

An Abington Township police officer entered an apartment in the Rosemore Gardens Apartments. The officer discharged their firearm, striking an adult man, authorities said.

The man was taken to Abington Jefferson Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.

Per protocol for officer-involved shootings in the county, Montgomery County Detectives responded to the scene to investigate the shooting.

The names of the man and the police involved are not being released at this time, Steele said.

Abington Township Police Department secured the scene after an incident was reported and said that there were no threats to the community.

Police said more information would be provided when it becomes available.

Police said earlier Thursday that there was a large police presence at the 2300 block of Rosemore Avenue and that residents and drivers should avoid the area if possible.
