PECO Outages: 226K Customers Still Have No Power In Philly Area

Approximately 226K PECO customers remain without service as of 8:30 p.m. Tuesday after Tropical Storm Isaia​s barreled through the region.

PHILADELPHIA, PA — Approximately 226,000 PECO customers remain without service as of 8:30 p.m. Tuesday after Tropical Storm Isaias barreled through the region, knocking out power, destructing property, and causing road closures.

PECO said it has brought in hundreds of contractors to help in the restoration: In addition to its employees, an additional 700 contractors will be assisting crews. It is not clear when the bulk of the region can expect to get their power back.

"We are currently working to assess the damage and the extent of repairs necessary to restore service to all customers," PECO said in an evening update.

Chester and Bucks counties are the hardest hit by the outages.

  • Bucks County = 96,270
  • Chester County = 102,700
  • Delaware County = 23,640
  • Montgomery County = 54,000
  • Philadelphia County = 10,000
  • York County = Scattered

"Crews will work around the clock to restore all customers as quickly and safely as possible," PECO said in its evening media update.
