3 In Same Family, Including PA Man, Die From Coronavirus: Report

Three people from the same extended family, including a Pennsylvania man, died from coronavirus, according to reports.

BATH, PA — The novel coronavirus has killed three people from the same extended family, including a Pennsylvania man, according to multiple sources.

Pennsylvania's first death was announced Wednesday. Officials did not release the person's age or gender, citing privacy issues. The New York Times has identified the man as a resident of Bath, which is in Northampton County.

He was the eldest son of Grace Fusco, 73, who also died Wednesday, and brother to Rita Fusco-Jackson, 55, who died last week. Fusco and Fusco-Jackson are residents of New Jersey.

New Jersey officials said the deaths are connected to a man in Little Ferry, N.J., who was that state's first death from COVID-19, NJ.com reported.

Gov. Tom Wolf's office confirmed the first Pennsylvania coronavirus death, saying the victim in Northampton County was being treated at a hospital at the time of his death.

Health officials in Pennsylvania continue to implore residents to stay home to mitigate the spread of the virus. All non-essential businesses have been told to close. Schools have been closed, and the governor is asking employees of most businesses to work remotely.
