5 Killed In PA Highway Tractor Trailer Crash Wednesday: PennDOT

There are still residual delays Thursday morning from the traffic backlog, officials said.

FRANKLIN COUNTY, PA - A crash on a highway in central Pennsylvania claimed five lives Wednesday night, authorities said.

The crash took place on I-81 in Franklin County near Greene Township just before 9 p.m. after a southbound RV collided with a northbound tractor trailer, a spokesperson for PennDOT confirmed to Patch. The crash scene was cleared around 6:50 a.m. Thursday morning.

There are still residual delays on I-81 from the traffic backlog, the spokesperson said.

No additional injuries were reported. The identities of the victims were not immediately made available.

Pennsylvania State Police are investigating the crash.
