COVID Cases, Hospitalizations Going Up In PA: See Latest Data

The trend in the 14-day moving average number of hospitalized patients continues to increase.

HARRISBURG, PA — Pennsylvania reported 1,691 additional positive cases of COVID-19 on Friday, bringing the statewide total to 1,233,876.

As of Friday, there were 668 people hospitalized with COVID-19 in the state. Of that number, 148 patients are in the intensive care unit with COVID-19. The trend in the 14-day moving average number of hospitalized patients continues to increase, state officials said.

The most recent data available shows the statewide percent positivity is at 3.9 percent.

Also Friday, Pennsylvania officials reported eight new COVID-19 deaths. Since the onset of the pandemic, there have been 27,898 deaths in Pennsylvania.

According to the CDC, Pennsylvania ranks 5th among all 50 states for total doses of the coronavirus vaccine administered. As of data last updated Thursday, 63.4 percent of Pennsylvanians age 18 and older are fully vaccinated.
