Latest PA COVID-19 Data: 2K Cases, 16 Deaths Reported
As of Friday, there are 935 people hospitalized with COVID-19 in Pennsylvania.

More than 2,000 additional positive cases of COVID-19 were reported in Pennsylvania Friday, bringing the statewide total to 1,246,014.
As of Friday, there are 935 people hospitalized with COVID-19 in the state. Of that number, 226 patients are in the intensive care unit.
Also on Friday, the state reported 16 new COVID-19 deaths. A total of 27,957 deaths attributed to COVID-19 have been reported in Pennsylvania since the start of the pandemic.

The statewide percent positivity rate for the week of July 30 to Aug. 5 stood at 5.4 percent.
Meanwhile, Pennsylvania ranks 5th among all 50 states for total doses of the coronavirus vaccine administered. According to the CDC, 64 percent of Pennsylvanians age 18 and older are fully vaccinated.

The state health department is urging residents to follow CDC guidance for wearing a mask. "For the protection of themselves and others, individuals who have not yet been vaccinated or are partially vaccinated are still encouraged to wear a mask when in public," the state health department said in a news release.
The CDC also recommends wearing a mask indoors in public if you are in an area with substantial or high transmission of the virus.
