PA Now Has 58K Coronavirus Cases, 3,800 Deaths

HARRISBURG, PA — Pennsylvania's coronavirus case count went to 57,991 after 837 additional positive cases were reported Tuesday.
The state reported 75 new deaths, bringing the statewide coronavirus death toll to 3,806. Just five other states — New York, New Jersey, Illinois, Massachusetts, and California — have more cases than Pennsylvania.
The county with the highest number of infected people is Philadelphia, where there have been 15,218 coronavirus cases.

Other counties that have the highest number of cases are: Montgomery County (5,442); Delaware County (5,084 ); Bucks (4,116); and Berks (3,453).
Also Tuesday, officials announced Pennsylvania will be launching a surveillance coronavirus testing program in nursing homes they hope will help control the spread of the virus.

"Nursing homes are a problem all around the world," Gov. Wolf said on Tuesday. "What we're gonna do, which I think is fairly radical, is make sure we're doing surveillance testing."
