Pennsylvania Coronavirus Case Count Up To 16

New positives were reported in Bucks, Montgomery, and Monroe counties.

HARRISBURG, PA — Pennsylvania now has 16 cases of the new coronavirus, also known as COVID-19. Two of the new positives are from Bucks County, one is from Montgomery County and another from Monroe County.

All are adults and in isolation at home, state health officials said.

Fourteen of Pennsylvania's cases are presumptive positive and two cases, the Delaware County and Wayne County cases, have been confirmed by the CDC. A presumptive positive means the test results are locally positive but must be confirmed by the CDC.

As of Wednesday, Pennsylvania health officials do not believe there has been community spread of the disease but they fully expect that in the future, said Health Secretary Rachel Levine.

So far, there have been 173 Pennsylvanians identified for testing. Of those, 10 have tested negative, 14 have tested presumptive positives and two have been confirmed positive by the CDC. Fifty-seven tests are pending, Levine said.

“While we anticipate that there will be more Pennsylvanians with COVID-19 in the coming days and weeks, it is important for residents to know the commonwealth is prepared and to be prepared themselves,” Levine said.

“Right now, you have a higher chance of testing positive for COVID-19 if you have traveled to a country or state with known community outbreaks or have come in contact with someone who has the virus. We are working with the health care community across Pennsylvania to keep them informed, consult on patient testing and ensuring they have the resources they need to care for patients.”
