Should Pennsylvania Mask Up Again? Take Patch's Survey

With new CDC guidelines for areas with surging COVID-19 cases — including parts of the Keystone State — is it time for a new mask mandate?

PENNSYLVANIA — As the delta variant spurs a sharp increase in COVID-19 cases across the country, federal officials have recommended the use of masks in some public places. The CDC is also calling for universal masking in K-12 schools.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recommends residents in counties reporting high or substantial spread of the coronavirus wear masks indoors even if fully vaccinated. That accounts for nearly half of Pennsylvania counties, according to CDC data.

Many retailers across the state have recently updated their mask rules, requiring them for even vaccinated employees and, in some cases, for all customers.
