'So I Raped You:' Man Who Raped Woman At PA College 12 Years Ago Sentenced

Ian Cleary was extradited to the U.S. from France after he messaged his victim, saying, "So I raped you," about eight years after the fact.

GETTYSBURG, PA — Nearly a dozen years after Ian Cleary raped a fellow student at Gettysburg College, the California native has learned his fate.

Cleary, 32, was sentenced to two to four years in prison after pleading guilty to one count of sexual assault, court documents show. He will also be a lifetime Sex Offender Registration And Notification Act offender.

The sexual assault happened on Dec. 15, 2013 and a warrant for his arrest was issued by the Gettysburg Borough Police Department in 2021.

That warrant came after the victim found a Facebook message from Cleary that said, "So I raped you."

The victim was 18 and Cleary was 20 at the time of the incident, and both were students at Gettysburg College.

Cleary did not return to the college after Dec. 15.
