Council members asked if it would be possible to secure the sidewalk with fencing but open the roadway or to take legal action against the building owner.
"I find it hard to believe that a business owner wouldn't hurry to open their business," said Council President Tony Isabella.

Bernadette Dougherty, a fellow business owner in Ambler and resident, told council that building owner and one of the co-owners of Finn McCool's, Alan Laken, told her that the structural engineer report that been submitted to the insurance company on Friday and the Butler Pike business expects to be open by October.
She added that Laken told her that the business could open but is waiting until the work is done so that food is not being prepared near an active work zone.
Council member, Francine Tomlinson, said, "It sounds like we're close," and suggested to wait until September to make the next move.
