Rep. Kate Harper (R-Blue Bell) is inviting all area veterans to a breakfast meeting where they will have the opportunity to learn more about the many programs and services available to them.
The breakfast will be held on Friday, Sept. 7, at 7:30 a.m. at the College Hall Cafeteria at Montgomery County Community College. Congressman Pat Meehan will serve as keynote speaker.
“Our veterans have given so much of themselves to protect our safety, defend our freedoms and preserve our democracy,” Harper said. “This breakfast provides an opportunity to bring these men and women together, thank them for their service, and offer them the opportunity to explore the opportunities available to them.”

Among vendors scheduled to participate in the event include the Montgomery County Veterans Affairs Office, the Philadelphia VA Regional Office and The Soldier’s Project counseling program.
Recognizing that veterans have a much higher unemployment rate than non-veterans, a number of organizations focusing on education and training for veterans also will be on hand, including Yellow Ribbon Schools, the Philadelphia Vets Multi-Service and Education Center, Greater Philadelphia Veterans Network, Veterans Green Jobs and the veterans committee of Strengthening the Mid-Atlantic Region for Tomorrow (SMART). The following educational institutions are also scheduled to attend: Neumann University, LaSalle University, Valley Forge Military Academy, Drexel University, Chestnut Hill College and Gwynedd Mercy College.
