Antique Wheels, Chicken Wings, and Antique Planes in Whitpain This Weekend

Take a Montgomery County sightseeing flight, check out some antique cars and planes, and more at Wings N' Wheels at Wings Field.

Whitpain Township, Angel Flight East and Wings Field Airport, welcomes the community to the 22nd annual Wings N' Wheels on Saturday, Sept. 8 for a day full of "wings, wheels and aviation history," according to the Wings N' Wheels page on the Angel Flight East website.

There will be displays of vintage and military aircraft, as well as newer light-sport planes and classic and antique cars at Wings Field in Blue Bell.

The Franklin Institute and Elmwood Park Zoo will have exhibits and activities for children. B101 will be on scene and providing music. There will also be Montgomery County sightseeing flights and the "Wing-Off," a wing-tasting contest supported by local restaurants that will be judged by local personalities.

All proceeds raised benefit Angel Flight East, a non-profit organization of volunteer pilots and ground volunteers who provide "free air transportation for seriously ill patients who need to get to treatment far from home," according to their website.

According to the Whitpain Wire, Angel Flight East will make more than 400 flights this year.

Wings N' Wheels 2012 will be held on Saturday, Sept. 8 from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m. at . Admission is $8 per person, and there is no charge for infants and children in strollers, and parking is free.
