Area YMCAs Opening Doors to Community in Need

The Ambler Area YMCA and the Abington YMCA are open to the community who have lost power and need assistance.

The YMCA of Phildelphia & Vicinity announced earlier this morning that the Abington YMCA and the Ambler Area YMCA will open their doors to the local community members who have lost power and may be in need of assistance in the coming hours. Both Y's invite youth, adults and families to utilize their facilities to taking warm showers and charging electronic equipment (cell phones, laptops, etc).

"We know that many of our friends and neighbors have been impacted by Hurricane Sandy and we want to make sure we can assist them during this time of need," said John F. Flynn, President & CEO of the YMCA of Philadelphia & Vicinity. "We encourage anyone that needs to charge any electronics or to take a warm shower to contact the Abington or Ambler Area YMCA right away."

Community members do not need to be YMCA members to use the facility. Those interested in using the Y today much simply present an ID and fill out a guest pass. The Abington YMCA, located at 1073 Old York Road in Abington, PA will be open from 5 AM - 10:00 PM tonight and the Ambler Area YMCA, located at 1325 McKean Road in Ambler, PA will be open from 5:00 AM - 10:30 PM tonight.
