Preserve Ambler, a newly-formed community group, is sponsoring an informational meeting on March 1 on a proposed billboard in the borough.
The meeting is intended to provide residents and business owners the latest information on the proposal along with background on efforts to oppose billboards in other municipalities. The meeting begins at 7 p.m. at the Ambler Senior Center at 45 Forest Avenue.
Speakers at the meeting will include Jim Byrne, an attorney representing Haverford, Springfield, Newtown and Abington townships in billboard cases, Jim Mullen, communications and membership director of SCRUB, which promotes healthy public spaces in the region and Sandi Donato, a Haverford Township resident involved in opposition to billboards proposed for that township.

Preserve Ambler opposes the billboard proposed by MC Outdoor at Bethlehem and Butler pikes because it believes the billboard will be a threat to the health, safety and welfare of the borough and have a lasting detrimental effect on Ambler’s character.
Preserve Ambler arranged for the guest speakers so the community could learn about actions taken by other municipalities and various court decisions concerning billboards.
