Ambler Patch: When did you open your business?

DeKalb Produce: The business started in 1936 and moved to our current location in 1952. My brother (Pat Barone) and I (Joe Barone) didn't take over until 2012. We are 4th generation produce men.

DP: Personal relationships with our customers.

AP: What made you decide to open a business?

DP: To keep alive the family tradition.

AP: What’s your most popular item?

DP: Jersey Tomatoes.

AP: What make’s your community special?

DP: Our community is special because of how long we've been around and our diverse customer base. Our customers span all nationalities and ages. Some people have been loyal customers for so long that they remember when we first opened and tell us stories of our grandfather.

AP: Where can customers find your specials?

DP: Our whole store is essentially a special compared to the big chains, but I would recommend our $1 or $2 table. These are tables where you get a whole basket of items for that price.
