GM Recalls Over 474,000 Chevrolet, Pontiac and Saturn Models for Gear Shift Problems

General Motors announced that it is recalling 473,841 Chevrolet, Pontiac and Saturn sedans, as well as 6,475 Chevy Sonic subcompact cars globally.

The recall affects models years 2007 to 2010 for Chevy Malibu, Pontiac G6 and Saturn Aura that are four-speed automatic, according to a report in Huffington Post. The cars could roll when the driver has put them into park.

"Dealers will add a reinforcement to the shift cable end fitting to prevent that part from fracturing, GM said."

The recall affects 426,240 Chevy Malibu, Pontiac G6 and Saturn Aura in the United States.

The Chevy Sonic is being recalled because the vehicle may not alert the driver when there is a faulty turn-signal bulb.

According to the report in the Huffington Post, "Dealers will reprogram an incorrectly calibrated module for the cars built between May 29 and August 29."

GM said it was aware of crashes that resulted from the Chevrolet, Pontiac and Saturn with no injuries, but unaware of crashes or injuries that resulted from the Chevy Sonic issue.
