Lindenwold Avenue Fire

10:27 p.m. UPDATE: Skip Urban, Deputy Chief for Wissahickon Fire Company, told Patch the call came from inside the house and that the residents were recommended to evacuate.

The fire broke through the the third floor back window, but firefighters were able to contain the fire to the "room of origin." According to firefighters on scene, the third floor appeared to be a utility room with a washer and dryer, which was broken up into three separate rooms.

The cause of the fire is unknown at this time. The Wissahickon Fire Marshal is investigating the cause of the fire.

The third floor of the house sustained major heat and smoke damage.

No injuries to residents or firefighters were reported.

Wissahickon Fire Company, Fort Washington Fire Company, Colmar, Spring Mill Rescue, and Spring Mill Ambulance assisted at the scene.

A fire in a residential building on Lindenwold Avenue in Ambler on Sunday night has closed most of the street to traffic while firefighters battle a blaze that appeared to have been confined to the third floor of the structure.

The fire is on the 300 block of Lindenwold Avenue. Most of Lindenwold Avenue between Bethelehem Pike and Butler Avenue is closed to traffic while fire operations continue.

Several units each from Fort Washington and Wissahickon Fire Companies were visible at the scene. The fire was dispatched at 8:19 p.m., according to Montgomery County Department of Public Safety records.

Firefighters could be seen walking on the roof of the building shortly before 9:00 p.m. The fire has not yet been declared under control.
