Lower Gwynedd Receives Greening Award for Penllyn Woods Park
Lower Gwynedd Township received a Community Greening Award from the Pennsylvania Horticultural Society for the work at Penllyn Woods Park.
At Tuesday night's Lower Gwynedd Township Board of Supervisor meeting, Chairman of the Board, Ed Brant announced that Lower Gwynedd Township is one of 60 applicants to receive the Pennsylvania Horticultural Society Greening Award for Penllyn Woods Park.
Supervisor, Kathy Hunsicker said Parks and Recreation Director, Sandi Feight, applied for the award and out of the 89 applicants, 60 parks across the state, including Lower Gwynedd Township, were chosen.
Lower Gwyedd Township preserved the 77 acre parcel that is now Penllyn Woods Park. Of the 77 acres, 24 acres remain undeveloped, while the rest are dedicated to walking trails, sports fields, and the community meeting room.

Hunsicker said Penllyn Woods has changed recreation in Lower Gwynedd Township.
Brandt said the park was the first major park in the township, saying, "it was a major effort to start there."

"It's a real legacy," said Brandt.
