Lower Gwynedd Supervisors Hold Off Vote on Lower Pike Overlay District

The Lower Pike Overlay District is an effort to stimulate commercial growth on the upper section of Bethlehem Pike.

The Lower Gwynedd Board of Supervisors have tabled a decision on the Lower Pike Overlay District, which would affect the 16 properties on Bethlehem Pike north of Dager Road, according to a report in the Ambler Gazette.

"While the upper section of Bethlehem Pike has seen improvements in recent years, that success hasn’t spread to the lower portion of the township’s main thoroughfare."

The ordinance is an "effort to stimulate commercial activity," Lower Gwynedd Township Solicitor said.

The ordinance creates an additional zone to go along with what the properties in the area are currently zoned: wither D, Business; D-4, Special Business; or PO-2, Professional Office.

Just before the Nov. 27 meeting, the Board of Supervisors had received the county's comments on the proposed ordinance and voted to delay voting until the supervisors could review the comments.
