According to the "I Love My Farmers' Market" website, the number of farmers markets increased by close to 10 percent between 2011 and 2012, with 7,864 farmers markets listed in the US in 2012.

Currently, California, Georgia and New York top the states with the most money pledged to be spent at local farmers' markets. In Pennsylvania, Lancaster Central Market in Lancaster, Farmers' Market in Hershey, and Central Market House of York are topping the pledge list.
