No Flooding Issues in Whitpain's West Ambler

Centre Square Fire Company Chief Lee Miller said the township and residents have been very fortunate with flooding during recent rainstorms. However, the forecast for Tuesday may put a damper on its carnival kickoff.

While the rains pound the ground and puddles around the Whitpain Township area, all's quiet and well in West Ambler.

"So far, no calls down there," said Centre Square Fire Company Chief Lee Miller Monday evening. "Whitpain Public Works is monitoring the area, and it's been doing OK."

Miller said there have been no weather-related calls overall in the township.

"Everything's pretty quiet," he said.

Miller said West Ambler is prone to some occasional flooding in the areas of Railroad Avenue, Maple Avenue and Oak Street.

"We've been fortunate since the last flood, which was during the hurricane. That was minimal. Prior to that, we had Tropical Storm Lee, where we had major flooding down there," Miller said.

The torrential downpours Monday occurred on the eve of Centre Square Fire Company's carnival. Miller said crews are setting up for the event, which begins tomorrow. However, rain may put a damper on things.

Centre Square Fire Co. celebrates its 100th anniversary this year.

"The carnival starts tomorrow, but I think weather will play a part in that (being postponed). Maybe there's a chance for the first night. We'll play it by ear," he said.
