This Was Ambler: Dr. J.V. Mattison

Dr. Richard V. Mattison was a visionary in Ambler Borough.

The manufacturing chemist did, among many things, erect the Trinity Memorial Protestant Church in Ambler, also known as the "Church of the Beautiful Windows, as it was said that the church had the "most harmonious" collection of windows in the country.

Mattison called home "The Lindenwold Estate" on Bethlehem Pike.

The man held many hats: president of First National Bank of Ambler, president of the Philadelphia Drug Exchange, vice president of the Philadelphia College of Pharmacy. Mattison also worked heavily in the asbestos industry.
