Whitpain Experiences Road Closures, No Major Flooding

Many roads in Whitpain Township are closed due to downed trees.

Information Provided from Whitpain Township via the Whitpain Wire:

The Township is beginning the slow process of cleaning up from Sandy. First, thank you to all residents who heeded warnings and stayed home yesterday and prepared for Sandy. Your cooperation is appreciated.

Roads
Many roads in the township are closed due to downed trees. Crews are working to clear trees as quickly as possible. In some cases, trees are tangled with utility lines. Crews must wait for PECO crews to confirm power is off to the lines before they can clear the trees.

Priority is being given to primary roads.

Power
PECO is working to assess and restore power throughout the region. At one point, about 90 percent of the township's 6,600 homes were without power.

PECO is aware of the outages and is doing its best to restore service. An estimated 175,000 outages were reported in Montgomery County.
