Whitpain Lays Out Its Future With New Mission, Vision, Value Statement
The new statement looks to communicate the essence of Whitpain's organization to residents and stakeholders.

Whitpain Township is poised for the future and is now ready to communicate the essence of its organization to its residents and stakeholders now that a mission, vision and values statement is on the books.
This month, Whitpain Township Supervisors approved the statement, which looks to define the municipality's purpose, goal and duty to its community.
"We had a few goals with the mission statement. (One) driving force was to help build organizational culture among staff members. We also feel that a strong mission statement can act as a guide as we make organizational decisions now in the future," said Whitpain Township Assistant Manager Rob Mrochko.
The mission statement gives direction and purpose to Whitpain Township as an organization, Mrochko said.
"It's something the township as a whole didn't have," he said. "The police had one, but the township didn't have one. We wanted to have one to sort of speak to different groups in the community and people outside to our purpose."
What is Whitpain's mission? It is to efficiently, responsibly, and creatively provide essential services that build value, enhance quality of life, and protect the health, safety and rights for all who live in, work in and enjoy Whitpain.
"It gives our employees a mission purpose and what we're striving for," Mrochko said. "It's easy to get caught up in day-to-day activities, but we have to stay focused on the big picture and why we're here."
Whitpain beiieves in five major values to carry out its mission: Partnership, Integrity, Respect, Responsiveness and stewardship.
"When we look at our values, it encapsulates our core beliefs," Mrochko said.
Whitpain wishes to establish long-term, transparent relationships based on trust, clarity and open communication with organizations committed to bettering the township. Whitpain also follows moral and ethical principles as its people carry out their work.
"We wanted to have employees be on the same page with us and have idea of residents, citizens, and stakeholders working toward the same goal and same purpose," Mrochko said.
Whitpain believes its actions and words demonstrate consideration of others. It desires to respond quickly and thoughtfully to individuals and events. Through it all, Whitpain cherishes its financial, natural and human resources to protect, preserve and enhance the township.
"In looking at the data and other town
ships, it's interesting—not a lot of townships have (a statement)," Mrochko said. "It's interesting to us to look at comparisons and find what others had."
Mrochko said Whitpain's new vision statement shows where it wants to head in the future as an organization.
Whitpain's vision is to be a community that embraces its future while cherishing its heritage. The township takes pride in its diversity, fiscal responsibility and resource conservation leadership, according to its vision.
All in all, Whitpain will "never waver in (its) collective commitment to ensuring public safety and enhancing the quality of life" of its residents.
